ArxCis-NV™DDR2 - Non-Volatile Cache Module
Viking Modular Solutions ArxCis-NV™ product family is a new line of memory modules designed to efficiently backup critical data stored in volatile DRAM. ArxCis-NV provides a standard DRAM memory bus interface, incorporates efficient data back up, restores function using an integrated SSD (Solid State Drive) and a proprietary controller.
This non-volatile cache module family has been designed specifically for the RAID, server and storage applications where traditional battery backed DRAM modules offer an inferior performing and substantially less secure method of critical data protection. The ArxCis-NV module is a JEDEC (Joint Electron Device Engineering Council) edge compatible registered DRAM DIMM module with ECC and is paired with an embedded SSD on the module for data backup.
The DIMM operates as a standard memory module until the system experiences unexpected power loss triggering a SAVE operation. The SAVE operation transfers data in volatile memory (DRAM) to non-volatile memory (NAND flash) to prevent data loss. During the SAVE operation the modular power is supplied by Super Capacitors either mounted on the module or remotely, depending on the customer system space or TCase constraints.
Once the data is transferred to the non-volatile memory the data can be held for up to 10 years, giving you ample time to service the system. At that time the module can perform a RESTORE function restoring the previously saved data, stored in Non-Volatile Memory, and transferring it back to the DRAM.
